Bignonia Ghonta

Taxon: Bignonia ghonta
Authority: Buch.-Ham. ex Wall.
IPNI: 60474171-2
Notes: Buchanan-Hamilton's Bengal manuscript (p. 189) lists this species as '1366 Bignonia Ghonta' derived from the Bengali name 'Ghonta'. Wallich's handwriting is often difficult to read and in this case was presumably misread by George Don when he validly published this species in 'A general history of the dichlamydeous plants, v4: 222 (1838) as 'Bignonia Ghorta (Hamilt. herb. ex Wall. cat. no. 6510)'.
