Anchuthengu, formerly known as Anjengo, coastal town in Kerala. Originally a portuguese settlement. In the 17th Century EIC were given the right to establish a factory and a fort at Anjengo, which became the Company's first trade settlement in Kerala. Later fell into disuse. Many local palms, producing excellent ropes, also exported pepper, etc. (Wikipedia)
